ChatGPT brings GPT-6 to every plan, including the free one
OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT on October 7, on paid plans and, a day later, the free one. Answers can now include charts and small tools, which still need checking.
On October 7, 2026, OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT’s Chat tab. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users got GPT-6 Sol, and the Free and Go plans started receiving GPT-6 Luna on October 8. On Enterprise, availability depends on admin settings. GPT-5.6 Sol stays available in the model menu. Sol and Luna first reached ChatGPT Work, Codex and the API on September 22, and the models in ChatGPT Work and Codex stay the same.
The release adds what OpenAI calls Intelligent UI, which is reaching the web and updated apps gradually. Depending on the question, an answer can include charts, buttons or forms, and you can ask for a small tool built on the spot, such as a savings calculator or a bill splitter. ChatGPT can also start answering while it is still reasoning. For questions that need a web search, OpenAI says GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant. That figure is OpenAI’s own.
What it means for your work
Anyone trying the free plan before paying is now testing the current generation. Prompts and checklists written for the previous model are worth running again, since answers may come back in a different form. Enterprise admins should check their settings to know which model staff are using.
What to check
A tidy chart or calculator comes from the same model as a paragraph of text and can be wrong in the same ways. Check the numbers and the formula before relying on the result, and take the same care with confidential figures as with any prompt. On the web, turning off the “Layout and visuals” setting reduces the visual elements, though some may still appear.
