Google’s Gemini 4 Argon reaches paying subscribers, business accounts and developers
Since October 13, Google’s new top model is in the Gemini app for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, in Gemini for business and in the paid API. Its launch price doubles after November 30.
Google introduced Gemini 4 Argon, its new top model, on September 30, 2026, first for a group of trusted cybersecurity defenders in its Fairwind Program. On October 13, Google began rolling it out much more widely. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers can use it in the Gemini app and in AI Mode in Search. Organizations get it through Gemini for business on the web, desktop and mobile, and developers through the paid tier of the Gemini API, in Google AI Studio and Android Studio.
The Gemini app also gained a switch from chat to tasks. In tasks mode, Gemini keeps working across Google apps and other services while you are away from your computer, and the app now connects to more than 40 outside apps. For organizations and developers, the introductory API price is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens (a token is roughly a piece of a word) through November 30, 2026. After that it doubles, to $4 and $20.
What it means for your work
Google’s October 13 posts don’t mention the free Gemini plan, so check which model your team is actually using before comparing results with colleagues on paid plans. Google chose which benchmark results to publish in those posts. Engadget reports that the independent firm Artificial Analysis measured a 15% hallucination rate for Argon, the lowest among leading models by its count. Answers still need checking against their sources, so try the model on your own documents, without confidential data, before you switch.
What to check
Google says it trained Argon to stop and ask before steps that can’t be undone. Test that yourself on a trial account before connecting a work account to tasks mode, and look at which apps and files Gemini can reach. Any budget or pilot priced at the launch rate needs a second look after November 30.
